Proverbs 23:7 (New King James Version)

7 "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he."

Location, Location, Location

You’ve heard it said…Location, Location, Location. Though this phrase is most often associated with the real estate market, I’ve found it applies directly to our lives as Believers too. Many times we find ourselves asking the questions: Where am I? Who am I? What am I doing here? Sometimes we have many answers to each of these questions depending on how we “feel” when we’re asked the question.

You can ask someone, “How are you doing?” and the answer will be “Fine, under the circumstances.” Of course the next question should be, “What are you doing under there?” The truth is, we find ourselves under the circumstances most of our life. Life just happens. We all have things to deal with. What may not seem like a big deal to you is a big deal to me, and vice versa. I have found that we cannot demean whatever may be going on in someone else’s life, because if it is affecting them negatively, it’s working against them whether I feel it is a legitimate concern or not.

The problem I think we have is we find ourselves “under the circumstances” in our THINKING long before we ever find ourselves there physically. What I mean to say is this. Our current “state’ is not a result of what circumstances we are in right now, but rather a result of what we are believing right now.

Biblically speaking, the only way for us to get out from under the circumstances is to change the way we THINK or what we continually think ON. I am well aware that some of the circumstances we find ourselves under are of the Lord’s doing.  We need to distinguish those as well.  But, the way to change things is to focus on the PROMISE, not the PROBLEM. God has already given us the answer: His Word. We receive that promise in seed form. It doesn’t work unless we plant it in our hearts. That Word is not programmed to fail, and it is not moved by what we see.  Change your thinking, and you’ll find yourself operating in the Fruit of the Spirit regardless of “where you are”.

Blessings!
